Last weekend, one of our artists had an accident while loading in the PA for his band gig. One broken arm and head injury later, and he has lost income from the gigs the following two days as well as incurring medical costs for the injury. Not only was he injured but a gentleman in the bar standing next to the stage where the gear was being loaded in was also injured.
What happened next was a nightmare in claim paperwork with the venue, the artist, the member of public and the security company. The artist did not have currect Public Liability insurance. He did not have a current SWMS. He did not check in first with the Duty Manager upon arrival at the venue. There was no induction with the venue OHS officer.
Don’t let this happen to you!
Check that your Public Liability Insurance is current and that you have emailed us a copy.
Ensure that you have a SWMS in place for all Gig Installations and that every member of your band and crew have a copy and are trained to follow it.
Make sure that when you arrive at a venue, whether it is the first time or the 10oth time, that you check in with the Duty Manager and you do an Safety Induction.
